Engineering Egypt’s High-Speed Rail Network
Egypt’s high-speed rail network connects the country’s major cities ports and tourism regions and creates the foundation for sustainable passenger and freight transport by rail.
For the nationwide network, 62 express and regional stations had to be planned and integrated into existing local transport networks. The stations are designed to serve both passengers and freight, while meeting various requirements for functionality, accessibility, and transfer options.
On behalf of the National Authority for Tunnels, ECG provides multidisciplinary engineering services across all project phases. These include route planning, station design and project management as well as the connection to light rail, monorail and the national railway. ECG developed its own typologies for terminal, transfer and intermediate stations.

- More than 2,000 kilometres of electric high-speed rail across three lines (Green, Blue and Red)
- Transport of more than 2.3 million passengers and 18,500 tonnes of freight per day
- Reduction of CO₂ emissions and traffic congestion through sustainable, electrically powered rail transport
