​​Saale Valley crossing near Bad Kösen​

​​With a length of 1,226 meters and a height of up to 65 meters, the Saaletal Crossing near Bad Kösen spans the Saale Valley. Upon completion, it will be one of Central Germany's largest valley bridges. Slender, articulated piers integrate the structure into the landscape characterised by shell limestone cliffs and vineyards. 
 
The bridge crosses a sensitive nature reserve. In the central bridge section, spans of up to 130 meters had to be managed without using auxiliary supports in the valley.
 
KREBS+KIEFER was responsible for design planning, tendering and structural checking of the detailed design. The central section used balanced cantilever construction, while the northern and southern sections were built by incremental launching. Building-control acceptance inspections for all erection stages and on-site monitoring of the superstructure launching supported delivery.​
