Agri-food value chains and vocational training in Chad

In western and south-western Chad, the programme strengthens rural livelihoods and economic prospects. Its 17,000 direct beneficiaries include cereal producers, spirulina harvesters, small and medium-sized enterprises, producer organisations, vocational training institutions and trainees.

Climate variability, insecure incomes and growing food insecurity are placing increasing pressure on rural regions. Low productivity, limited processing capacity, weak market access and inadequate vocational training are constraining the development of the cereal flour and spirulina value chains in particular.

Commissioned by GIZ, Dorsch Impact is responsible under PEA/PAMELOT (Agri-Food Entrepreneurship Programme / Livelihood Improvement Project in Western Chad) for structuring production, processing, marketing and service delivery systems as well as strengthening vocational training. Together with local and national partners, the team supports climate-resilient farming methods, quality standards and certification, entrepreneurial skills, and access to markets and finance.
